Welcome to Quantum Surface
The aim of Quantum Surface is to present information about consciousness. Inparticular, to present those ideas which seem to bridge the gap between science and spirituality, namely a science of connectedness, quantum physics, and how our physical beings are embedded into connectedness. We also aim to present current ideas on perhaps how consciousness arrises and also try to show how this connects with the ancient wisdom traditions. Over the last 100 years, great advances in scientific understanding have taken place. Scientists are having to review previously held ideas about the nature of reality. No longer are we considered to be separate from each other, but, at a fundemental layer in the universe, it is believed we are connected, and certainly scientific experiments at the quantum level seem to suggest this. A new paradigm is unfolding, a new world, personal and inter-personal view. Open minded people, from all walks of life, are breaking the mould and searching for a new meaning and perspective. We are starting to see science back-up ideas that are usually associated with the ancient wisdom traditions, ideas like connectedness. These ideas, as they start to permeate popular culture, will have a far reaching transformative effect and our institutions will change. We are living through the end days of the dominant materialist paradigm. Energy work, new science and new healthcare will support each other. Other institutions will also follow suit, especially the education and religious systems. Two thousand years after the Christian movement began, will we begin to see the church embrace its gnostic roots to acknowledge and include direct experience and experiential frameworks. All of this together will lead to a much wider science of consciousness that includes extended states of consciousness, transpersonal and spiritual experience. In this light, all nations and religious movements will come together. It is estimated that there are about 100 billion neurons in the brain. Within the neuron cell, underlying the synaptic function within the dendritic legs coming out of the cell lies another level of functionality. Microtubules within the dendrites are thought to provide another level of complexity by providing computational power at the quantum level, they potentially interact at the quantum level (see Hameroff / Penrose Orch OR in the resources section). However, there could be other cells which may have quantum connectivity within the brain, such as astrocytes, and perhaps other processes that utilise quantum operations. A quantum system operating side by side a biological system is called a quantum biosystem. Further to this, if the quantum aspect is also holographic in nature, then the system becomes a quantum holographic biosystem, or a quantum biohologram. One of the most important aspects of a quantum biosystem is nonlocal entanglement. This means that  collections of cells that appear separate may infact be linked, and therefore the entanglement may be an opportunity for these collections to work together more closely than thought. So, it can be said that the quantum layer in a quantum biosystem may be operating like a medium or a connected surface, the quantum surface. Nonlocal entanglement is important because it helps us to understand anomalies within mainstream scientific thinking. e.g. Psi research, spiritual experiences and transpersonal psychology. Connected states of consciousness.
		The diagram to the left is a depiction of a single cell, a neuron with our brain, and how this neuron may be connected to an underlying connected, holographic, universe. At the top of the diagram, the light blue inner circle represents the cell nucleus, where DNA resides. The outer darker blue circle represents the cell body, and the blue triangular shapes represent the tree-like dendrites coming out of the cell. So this is a typical eukaryotic cell structure. The small blue/red circles within the dendrites represent an internal microtubular structure. Microtubules are thought to be able to operate at the quantum level, maybe acting as a quantum interface. The red elipse, in the middle of the diagram, is depicting the quantum surface layer or connected medium. The three dots represent the atomic layer, manifesting out of  the underlying quantum surface. The atoms, DNA and microtubules remain quantumly entangled to the underlying quantum surface, in what I would call a quantum channel. This is depicted by the red arrows connecting those aspects. Research, from the Gariaev group, suggests that DNA acts as a holographic projector of the psychophysical system, and as such uses acoustic and electromagnetic vibration to guide the formation of material, based on a holographic template that is non-locally connected throughout the system, not only the immediate biological system, e.g. the person, but also the wider environment. The quantum surface is one enfolded layer of reality. The coloured circular object at the bottom of the diagram represents the holistic universe that has several, ever increasingly, enfolded layers, like David Bohm suggested. The purpose of this site is to try to explore classic ideas from the east and contemporary research from the west and to see where these ideas converge. Hopefully by comparing and distilling this knowledge we can appreciate the bigger picture of what it means to be a human being and move forward on the level of the individual and at the level of society.
